The soap makes showers an indulgence

Showers, for mothers, should not be deemed an indulgence only.

Showers are necessary. They make us clean. They help us take care of our skin and our sanity.

It’s something I’ve seen over and over- almost a competition of how long can someone go without a shower, etc.

And it’s silly.

Everyone can get showers when they need it.

I say this because even my friend who is a single mom gets her daily shower- if she can do it, so can you and I.

it shouldn’t be about making sure Daddy pays attention to them long enough for you to get clean.

It’s not about having small children and the minute you turn your back there’s glitter and glue and toilet paper everywhere.

Cleaning your body is a necessity. it’s necessary as private time for you and a quiet place to recharge, even if it is for five minutes under a stream of hot water.

Showers for me are both a necessity and a ritual- I bring in my iPhone and listen to part of a podcast and giggle as I get clean.

I have been working through a giant pack of bar soap i got at Target- a steal, and one that got me clean and decent, but not one that made me feel beautiful or indulged while I was in the shower.

I was happy to try out the new Dove Visiblecare Renewing Creme Body Wash, and decided it was going to get the toughest review I could muster- the kind where I jump in and out of the shower and go right back to parenting without any lotions, beauty treatment of sometimes no clean clothes. And no lotion.

I really felt like the wash was renewing and replenishing my poor sunburnt skin, and its pink mimosa and pomegranate scent left me smelling my skin hours later- just a clean scent, not a super strong one.

A true test came a couple days after, when I ran my hand over unshaven legs and even with no lotion or other treatment they still felt soft (except for the stubble, of course!)
For me, it really has given me better-looking skin in a week, and will be traveling with me on vacation this week!
