The Book of Life | Giveaway
Disclaimer: I am receiving a copy of the movie as part of my involvement with FHE Insiders. No other compensation was given. All opinions are my own.
I love animation as an art form.
I love learning about the details that inspire the theme of the movie, like Sleeping Beauty’s artistic medieval style or how hard it was to animate Ariel’s hair in The Little Mermaid.
I love the animation style in “The Book of Life”, especially the wooden puppet style.
Themed around Dias de los Muertos, it’s a unique movie that is a great addition to the family library!
And because I love new recipes, here are two healthy inspired by the movie!
I also get to give away a Blu-ray of “The Book of Life” DVD!
Contest begins today and ends February 1st at midnight.

I’ll go first! My maternal grandfather died when I was 6, and I remember sitting by the horse corral eating grapefruit and giving the horses the rinds.

When we lived on Guam, I used to be at my nana + papa’s house all the time because both of my parents worked… I loved getting up early (like 4am) and hanging with my nana while she made my papa coffee and they read the morning paper… I wish she got to meet my kids, I miss her so much!

I was attached to my dad when I was a little girl. He helped me practice my soccer skills when I was 5 years old, brought music into my life when I was 8 years old and helped me find my first job at Disneyland when I was a junior in high school. It’s hard to narrow down one memory of someone that had such an impact on my life. He left us when I was 18 years old and I wonder what life would be like if he were still around.

Whenever we would go over to my great grandmother’s house she would let us pick a few cookies for her cookie jars. She had several different cookie jars!

My Aunt Rose-Every Christmas we would bake and decorate xmas cookies-her cookies always came out perfect-no odd or burnt shapes or marks…….they were perfect. 🙂 And she would always make a little cheese pizza for me when she had extra dough. I miss her terribly……….she was my aunt and godmother. 🙁 She died on oct 11 2009

Every single day of my life I think of my brother who died. He was only 35 and a wonderful man to whom I was absolutely devoted.

Oh goodness…. Well my brother and I were my mom’s parents’ only grandchildren so they really spoiled us. We had our own bedrooms at their house, got to pick out board games and toys to keep there. It was kind of like having a vacation home. IT wasn’t extravagant, either. It was just little things they would do and it was really special. And we would always spend weekends there and on Sundays, my grandfather would always make pancakes from scratch. In his bathrobe, old school pajamaes and house slippers. I can still see him like that in my mind. And I always think of him — but especially on Sunday mornings, and especially when I smell pancakes and syrup.

My favorite memory is of my Father. He died when I was 10. My favorite memory of him is going to Disney World as a child with him.

I’m going to have to go with my aunt that passed away from an aggressive form of cancer when I was about 6-7 years old. Before she got sick she would dress up every Christmas Eve as Santa for our families Christmas party and hand out small gifts to all of us kids.

My favorite memory (yet bitter-sweet) was when I hugged my dad, and held onto him for the last time, and told him that I loved him just a few days before he went into a coma, and passed away shortly thereafter.

Every time we visited my Grandma I helped her bake chocolate chip cookies. It was the only thing she could make that was consistently wonderful. I remember her off-key humming and the way she guided my hands during the mixing.
