World Water Day and World Vision

Living in California, water use is on my mind a lot these days.

Between scientists saying we have a year’s worth of water left in storage, to pondering the amount of water Disneyland uses. Simultaneously thanking myself for the foresight to plant succulents in our sunny front yard, to tightening the faucet at work to fix the drip.

Everywhere, water.

The Earth is about 70% covered in water, and it is the most important resource we have. According to World Vision, 748 million people lack access to clean water – the equivalent of nearly two and a half times the United States population.

I’ve been told there’s parts of Africa where it is easier to get a Coke than clean water.

Even though here in CA it’s a stressed resource, I am blessed I can turn on a tap and get cold water when I come home tired after work.

World Vision has offered a giveaway of a 2015 World Water Day umbrella and a silk scarf (which I also own – it’s so soft and colorful!) to give away.

Royal_Silk_Scarf WorldVisionUmbrellaDid you know that turning off the faucet while you brush your teeth is the most common way to conserve water in the US?
